This recipe has much less salt and saturated fat than a take away version but doesn’t skimp on flavour!

Steps

1
Done

Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Chop the sweet potato into chips.

2
Done

Space the sweet potato on a baking tray and coat in a little olive oil. Sprinkle with flour and paprika, if you have some. Put in the oven for 25 minutes.

3
Done

Cut your baby's portion of cod from the adult fillets.

4
Done

Sprinkle some flour onto your work space and lay your fish in the flour, both sides, so it gets an even covering. This will give the fish a lightly battered finish.

5
Done

10 minutes before the chips are done, heat a little oil in the pan. Once hot, place the fish in the pan, cooking your tiny baby portion for just a couple of minutes each side.

6
Done

If you are also eating, season the adult portions with salt and pepper (if preferred) and then fry while the baby portion cools a little.

7
Done

Microwave the tinned peas as per instructions on the tin then mash with a fork (lazy but perfectly nutritious!).

8
Done

Serve your crispy fish on a bed of mushy peas with your sweet potato chips on the side. Better than a takeaway!
